Technical data

The RAMED patient transfer unit is intended for comfortable and safe patient displacement from a bed onto a working plate of the surgical table and vice versa. Presently it represents the top solution of a sterile separation of the operating theatre area from its non-sterile surroundings. It considerably simplifi es the staff in attendance work while patient handling in connection with placing a patient onto a working plate of the surgical table before an operation and during his displacement onto a bed after an operating action. The whole displacement process is more comfortable for the patient and does not intensify his stress load at all. An electric lifting mechanism of the handling plate aligns differences between the height of this working plate, located on a transport cart and the height of a bed making this work very easy. Electrically controlled transversal shifting of the whole handling plate, as well as electrical belt movement of this plate, enables to displace a patient among sterile areas of the operating theatre and its surroundings. Lateral movement of the handling plate, which is controlled by a microprocessor and related synchronic belt movement, enable very comfortable loading of a patient onto a handling device, followed by placement onto a working plate of the surgical table or a bed. This synchronous movement minimizes requirements for manual cooperation of the staff as any physical exertion is performed by the handling equipment only.

Phases of patient transfer

Design of this equipment, besides comfortable attendance, has been based particularly on maximum safety for a patient during the whole process of his displacement. The handling device itself is equipped with optical and mechanical sensors protecting a patient not to slide down from a working plate inadvertently. To ensure maximum safety, there are 4 emergency switches for immediate stopping of any unwanted motion. Close to the handling device there is a power unit with batteries providing trouble-free service independently from the mains. The equipment runs on a safe voltage of 24 V DC. All functions are controlled by a remote driver installed on both sides of the device. Its transport belt is made of synthetic and permanently antistatic and anti-microbacterial materials, well resistant to currently used disinfectants and detergents. For simple routine maintenance the whole equipment is covered by metal plates made of high-quality stainless steel. Alternatively, this equipment can be assembled with an inbuilt window for complete separation from the operating theatre space.

An inbuilt IR barrier stops any patient movement on the handling plate that might result in his sliding down if there is neither a bed nor a working plate available.
